A Little Humor
Shall we gather at the river?
A preacher, completing a sermon, spoke with great fervor! "If I had all the beer in the world, I’d throw it all into the river."
With greater emphasis, he said, "And if I had all the wine in the world, I’d throw it all into the river."
And finally he said, "And if I had all the whiskey in the world, I’d throw it all into the river, too!"
As he took his chair, the song leader stood and announced with a smile, "For our closing hymn, let us sing number 365:
"Shall We Gather at the River."

Proverbs 17: verse 22
Happiness comes from your circumstances. When everything is going your way, you will be happy. Joy does not depend on your circumstances. Joy is a decision. Here is my recipe for joy.
J is for Jesus, he should be your first priority
O is for others, they should be after Jesus
Y is for yourself, make sure that you keep Jesus-Others-Yourself in the correct order and you will find it is much easier to live with JOY in your life.
Lately, I have been guilty of putting myself at the top of the list. Seeking pity and compassion from others instead of keeping Jesus at the top of my list. I like to use the Scripture, Proverbs 17:22
A merry heart does good like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones. I have been less concerned about the first part and ignoring the part about dry, lifeless bones. I am working on getting things back in the correct order. With God directing my path I will have joy in my life.

10 Commandments
I've always had a
question in my mind, but I have never really reached out for an answer.
If
we are no longer living under the law (10 Commandments) and Jesus gave us two
Commandments
Matthew
22: 34-40
34
Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35
One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher,
which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your
soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39
And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and
the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Why
is it that we use the 10 Commandments when we represent Christianity in public
places?
much love, Dennis
