Today at Church
Today's church service was really good. After some praise and worship music, pastor Rich called down the kids for a short lesson. We normally run about 12-16 little ones, but I counted 30 today +1 at the piano that will be making his/her debut soon. Rich's lesson was about a person trying to help an ant find a piece of sugar on the ground. No matter how much help the person offered, the ant with his tiny brain would still go his own way. This is much like us with our limited knowledge trying to do everything our way and not taking advice from God whose knowledge has no limit. I must admit, I've been trying to learn that lesson for years.
Our sermon dealt with God's wisdom and Paul praying about his "thorn in the flesh". 2 Corinthians chapter 12
even though Paul wanted God to take away the thing that was affecting him, he was told by God "My grace is all you need. My power works best works best in weakness" .
Rich was preaching from first-person experience, and I say this because, he told us that. I'm sure that his sermon probably hit home for many people. I personally cling to 1 Corinthians 1: 26-31
God chose the foolish things of this world to shame the wise. He chose the weak things of this world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things and the despised things and the things that are not so that no one may boast before him. It is because of Him that we are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God, that is our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written, may the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.
Much Love, Dennis
